Departure from the USA bound for Germany! |

Day 2 |
Rothenburg We are met by our European Institute Tour Director and accompanied to our centrally located hotel, before we begin exploring this city.

| Day 3 |
Munich Spend time this morning exploring medieval Rothenburg, a well-preserved town complete with ramparts and towers, 16th-century houses and cobbled lanes. Our visit also includes the castle which dominates the town.
We follow the Romantic Road past picturesque Dinkelsbuehl to the capital of Bavaria, Munich.

| Day 4 |
Munich Sightseeing with our local guide shows us the Olympic Stadium, Frauenkirche and the famous Glockenspiel in the Marienplatz town hall square.
This afternoon we take a thought-provoking pilgrimage to Dachau, site of the concentration camp memorial.

| Day 5 |
Innsbruck We begin with a visit to mad King Ludwig's magnificent castle of Neuschwanstein (inspiration for the Disney castle).
Then, through the Bavarian Alps to Innsbruck in the Tyrol, a region considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in the world, with deep blue lakes and white stone houses in the classic Alpine style. Our Innsbruck sightseeing tour views the Olympic ski jump, the Golden Roof, Hofburg Palace and the Wilten Basilica.

| Day 6 |
Lucerne Today we journey through stunning mountain scenery to the Swiss town of Lucerne, stopping for lunch in one of the world's smallest principalities, Lichtenstein.

| Day 7 |
Lucerne Sightseeing of Lucerne includes the moving Swiss Lion Monument, the mural-decorated wooden bridge, and the Old Town. Plenty of time at leisure to shop for Swiss watches, chocolate, take a hike in the Alps or just enjoy the mountain scenery from a boat ride along Lake Lucerne.
In afternoon, perhaps enjoy an optional cable-car ride up the 7000 foot Mt. Pilatus.

| Day 8 |
Heidelberg Area Today we go first to the impressive Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen and then continue through the Black Forest to Heidelberg. Here we visit the Castle situated high above this university city. During our walking tour we discover why Goethe, Mark Twain and Victor Hugo, to name but a few, were all drawn here.
