Day 1 |
Departure from the
USA. |

Day 2 |
Zurich
We are
met by our European Institute Tour Director and
accompanied to our centrally located hotel, before we
begin exploring.

Day 3 |
Munich
Our first stop today is at the thundering Rhine Falls,
the most powerful waterfall in Europe.
After lunch at Lindau, on the shores of
Lake
Constance, we continue to Munich where we see
the Olympic Stadium, Frauenkirche and the
famous Glockenspiel in the Marienplatz
town hall square.

Day 4 |
Munich
Today we journey to 'Mad' King Ludwig's
fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein (inspiration
for the Disney castle).
We then visit the nearby Wieskirche Church with
its incredibly ornate decorations before heading to Oberammergau, home of the famous
Passion play.

Day 5 |
Vienna Our first stop this
morning is in Salzburg, where we enjoy a
sightseeing tour with local guide, including the Mirabell Gardens and
Richard the Lionheart's
castle at Durnstein .
After pausing to view the baroque monastery of
Melk,
we continue to Vienna.

Day 6 |
Vienna Our local guide introduces us to, Emperor Franz
Josef's Hofburg Palace, the Cathedral of St.
Stephen and the State Opera.
Then, an included visit to
Schoenbrunn Palace
with its magnificently preserved staterooms and
exquisite gardens.

Day 7 |
Villach
Today we take a delightful drive through the sleepy
towns of Austria and climb the dramatic Semmering Pass to stop in picturesque
Kindberg.
We continue alongside streams and through farmlands to
the Austrian Lake District and Villach.

Day 8 |
Bolzano
Spectacular
scenery all the way as we cross the dramatic Carnic
Alps to reach the Dolomites. We stop in the
ski resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo where mountain
people have maintained their customs and Romansh dialect
for centuries.
Tonight we stay in the
charming Sud Tiroler Italian city of Bolzano.

Day 9 |
St.
Moritz
We follow
the Engadine Valley, considered by many as the
most beautiful area in the world: Deep blue lakes and
mountain peaks exceeding 12,000 feet. We continue to the
chic resort of St. Moritz.

Day 10 |
Lucerne
We start the day with
one of the world's great train rides - The Glacier
Express. We sit spellbound as white stone houses,
lush meadows and snow capped mountains slip past our
carriage window. We continue through the Principality of
Lichtenstein pausing for views of the 700 year
old Vaduz Castle before arriving in Lucerne.

Day 11 |
Lucerne
Sightseeing
of Lucerne with our Tour Director includes the touching
Swiss Lion Monument and the mural-decorated wooden bridge.
Plenty of
time at leisure this afternoon to shop for Swiss
watches, chocolate, take a hike in the Alps or
join our excursion to Mount Pilatus for breathtaking
views across the Alps.
