Departure from the USA bound for Italy!

Day 2

Rome   We are met by our European Institute Tour Director and accompanied to our centrally located hotel, before we begin exploring this incredible city.

Day 3

Rome   This morning we have an in depth city sightseeing tour with our local guide, including entrances to the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and the Coliseum.

We also visit Saint Peter's Basilica and the Pantheon.

Day 4

Pompeii Area   Today we head south from Rome towards the capital of Campania, Naples. Here we visit the Naples Archaeological Museum to see the beautiful frescoes and mosaics, which were removed from Pompeii when the site was discovered.

After lunch we head to Pompeii to visit the remains of the buried city with a local guide.

Day 5

Assisi   We head for the Isle of Capri this morning to discover the treasures of this incredible site. There is time, if you wish, to visit the Blue Grotto (weather permitting) and also to visit the gardens of Caesar Augustus.

After lunch we return to the mainland and transfer to our hotel in Assisi.

Day 6

Florence Area   This morning we visit the wonderfully restored Basilica of Saint Francis with its awe-inspiring frescoes by Giotto.

We then continue north to a Spa resort in the Florence area where we spend the next three nights.

Day 7

Florence Area  This morning we discover the cradle of the Renaissance, Florence. With our Local guide we learn about the philosophy behind Michelangelo's David at the Accademia Museum and also see the Duomo, Signoria Square and Santa Croce.

Day 8

Florence Area   Siena is the first stop on our itinerary this morning where we see the famous Palio Square, Piazza dell Campo and the magnificent cathedral. Next stop is San Gimignano, considered by many to be the most beautiful town in Tuscany.

Our last stop of the day is Pisa and the square of miracles. Here we see the leaning tower, which was recently opened to the public.

Day 9

Rome Back south once more to the capital for those last minute presents. This evening we have our farewell dinner at a restaurant where we eat like kings and queens but also experience the power of Italian Opera. Professional opera singers sing many famous songs and arias to us.

The perfect way to end our European Institute Vacation.
