Day 1  

Departure from the USA bound for France!

Day 2

Paris   We are met by our European Institute Tour Director and accompanied to our centrally located hotel, before we begin exploring this incredible city.
 

Day 3

Paris   Today our local guide introduces us to Napoleon's grand Arc de Triomphe, the famous Champs Elysιes, Place de la Concorde steeped in France's turbulent history, magnificent Place Vendome and finish our tour with a visit to one of Europe's most beautiful cathedrals, Notre Dame.

 

After lunch a visit is included to the Louvre Museum. This evening we take we to top of the Eiffel Tower for a 'bird's eye view' of the city!

 

Day 4

Paris   Our day commences with a visit to a palace that truly illustrates the wealth of pre-revolutionary France, Louis XIV's Versailles. Our tour takes us through the 250 foot long hall of mirrors and the royal apartments to the magnificent gardens and Marie Antoinette's Petit Hameau.


Continue to Chartres Cathedral with its famed stained glass windows (guided by the celebrated Malcolm Miller when available).

This evening a romantic Seine river cruise is included.

 

Day 5

Normandy  This morning we head north to the Normandy, and the D-Day beaches where the fight for Europe's freedom took place in WWII. We will visit the museum at Arromanches as well as the moving American War Cemetery.

 

Overnight in the medieval port of St. Malo.

 

Day 6

Tours   It is a short distance today to the majestic 8th century Benedictine Abbey of Mont St. Michel. Perched on a rocky isle in the gulf of Saint Malo, its awesome fortifications were attacked many times during the Hundred Years' War, but it was fortunately never captured.

Continue to medieval Tours.
 

Day 7

Tours   Today we visit three of the most impressive Loire Valley chateaux: Amboise, Chenonceau and the moated Azay-le-Rideau whose Renaissance exterior is a sight to behold.

 

Day 8

Geneva Area   Your TGV from Paris takes you through the beautiful countryside to the Swiss city of Geneva nestling among the majestic Alps.

 

Day 9

Geneva Area   This morning we visit the romantic Castle of Chillon before returning to explore the charming city of Geneva.

 

Day 10 Return to the USA.
