Day 1  

Departure from the USA bound for France!  

Day 2

Paris  We are met by our European Institute Tour Director and accompanied to our centrally located hotel, before we begin to explore this incredible city.
 

Day 3

Paris   Today on our city sightseeing tour, our local guide shows us Napoleon's grand Arc de Triomphe , the famous Champs Elysιes, la Place de la Concorde, , the magnificent Place Vendome and we visit one of Europe's most beautiful cathedrals, Notre Dame.

After lunch a visit is included to the Louvre Museum to see Da Vinci's masterpiece the Mona Lisa.

This evening we go to the top of the Eiffel Tower for a 'bird's eye view' of the city!

 

Day 4

Paris   Our day commences with a visit to a palace that truly illustrates the wealth of pre-revolutionary France, Louis XIV's Versailles. Our tour takes us through the 250 foot long hall of mirrors and the royal apartments to the magnificent gardens and Marie Antoinette's Petit Hameau.
 

This evening a romantic Seine river cruise is included.
 

Day 5

Tours   On our journey to the Loire Valley, we first stop to visit Chartres Cathedral

(*with celebrated Chartres expert Malcolm Miller tour when available). Continue on to medieval Tours.

 

Day 6

Tours   The Loire Valley is justly famed for its incredible chateaux and today you will visit three of the most impressive.

 

The town of Amboise sits on the bank of the river Loire and is dominated by the medieval castle. Chenonceau, once home to Catherine de Medici, is the most charming of the chateaux. We also include the moated Azay-le-Rideau whose Renaissance exterior is a sight to behold.


Tonight you will enjoy a Highlight Dinner in the Loire Valley.

 

Day 7

Normandy Area  This morning travel to the majestic 8th century Benedictine Abbey of Mont St. Michel. Perched on a rocky isle in the gulf of Saint Malo, its awesome fortifications were attacked many times during the Hundred Years' War, but it was fortunately never captured.

 

Day 8

Paris   Today we visit the D-Day beaches and the thought provoking American Military Cemetery. Next we stop for an included visit to see the Bayeux Tapestry which chronicled a far earlier battle, the Norman conquest of Britain.

 

Return this afternoon to Paris and to bid France 'au revoir'!

 

Day 9 Return to the USA.
