Day 1  

Departure from the USA bound for France!

Day 2

Paris   We are met by our European Institute Tour Director and accompanied to our centrally located hotel, before we begin exploring this incredible city.
 

Day 3

Paris   Today we will have the perfect introduction to Paris, a city sightseeing tour led by a local guide including an inside visit to Notre Dame.

 

After lunch a visit is included to the Louvre Museum.

 

This evening we take we to top of the Eiffel Tower for a 'bird's eye view' of the city!

 

Day 4

Normandy   This morning we head north to Normandy, and the D-Day beaches where the fight for Europe's freedom took place in WWII. We will visit the museum at Arromanches as well as the moving American War Cemetery.

 

Day 5

Tours  It is a short distance today to the majestic 8th century Benedictine Abbey of Mont St. Michel.

 

Day 6

Tours   We visit three of the most impressive chateaux in the Loire Valley: Amboise, Chenonceau , and the lesser known gem, Azay-le-Rideau.
 

Day 7

Train   On our return to Paris we stop to visit Chartres Cathedral (Malcolm Miller tour when available).

Day 8

Nice   Arrive in Nice and after breakfast transfer to our hotel. Learn about this lively resort and its Italian heritage as our European Institute Tour Director leads us on a walking tour of the Old Town.

 

Day 9

Nice   Later this morning we travel the spectacular coastline route to the principality of Monaco.

 

We will also take a trip to the highest cliff-top village in France, Eze.

 

Day 10

Nice   Today we can choose to either explore Nice further or join our excursion to the artists' haven of St. Paul de Vence, where we also visit the Maeght Foundation and the serene Chapelle Matisse, designed by the master himself.

 

Day 11

Provence   This morning we leave the blue waters of the Cote d'Azur for the hills of Provence. Lunch will be in the walled city of Avignon where we will also visit the Palace of the Popes.

 

Day 12

Provence   We will be visiting the Roman city of Nimes featuring its great amphitheatre, and the Maison Carrιe. On to the largest free standing Roman aqueduct in Europe, the Pont du Gard for lunch.

 

Day 13

Paris   Board our TGV (Train a Grande Vitesse) and enjoy the beautiful countryside as we travel to Paris.

 

Day 14

Provence   Today's visit is to Louis XIV's Versailles. Our tour takes us through the 250 foot long hall of mirrors and the royal apartments to the magnificent gardens and Marie Antoinette's Petit Hameau.

 

Day 15 Return to the USA.
