Departure from the USA bound for Italy!

Day 2

Rome   We are met by our European Institute Tour Director and accompanied to our centrally located hotel, before we begin exploring this incredible city.

Rome   This morning we have an in depth city sightseeing tour with our local guide, including entrances to the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and the Coliseum.

We also visit Saint Peter's Basilica and the Pantheon.

This evening our tour director takes us on a Walking Tour of medieval Rome, from the Spanish Steps, to Trevi Fountain.

Florence    We drive into Umbria to visit Assisi where we visit the wonderfully restored Basilica of Saint Francis with its awe-inspiring frescoes by Giotto, before our arrival in Florence.

Florence   This morning we discover the cradle of the Renaissance, Florence. With our local guide we learn about the philosophy behind Michelangelo's David at the Accademia Museum and also see the Duomo, Signoria Square and Santa Croce.
 

This afternoon you may explore Florence further, or choose to take our optional trip to the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Orvieto   Siena is the first stop on our itinerary this morning where we see the famous Palio Square, Piazza dell Campo and the magnificent cathedral.

After ample time for exploration and lunch, we travel on to Orvieto.

Orvieto   Today, we enjoy all this gem of a medieval hill town has to offer, as our tour director shows us the cathedral and the charming winding roads of the Old Town.

Perhaps enjoy a cappuccino at a sidewalk café during the Passeggiato this evening.

Rome   We drive down through il Terreno Amico to Rome, where we have time to browse for last minute souvenirs.

This evening we enjoy our farewell dinner at a restaurant where we eat like kings and queens but also experience the power of Italian Opera. Professional opera singers sing many famous songs and arias to us.

The perfect way to end our European Institute Vacation.
