Departure from the
USA bound for
Spain! |

Day 2 |
Madrid
We are met by
our European Institute Tour Director and taken to our
centrally located hotel for an arrival briefing.

Day 3 |
Madrid
Our local guide takes us on a sightseeing tour of the
highlights of Madrid.
We drive along the noble
wide avenues to see the Palacio Real,
Puerto del Sol, the geographical center point of
Spain, and we finish with a visit to the Prado
museum where we can admire the works of Goya,
El Greco and Velasquez.
After lunch, we are
moved by Picasso's Guernica at the Reina Sofia
gallery.

Day 4 |
Madrid
Today's optional field trip shows us the Roman aqueduct
in Segovia, 800 feet long, 30 meters high, yet
using no mortar or cement, and the awe inspiring
panoramas from the Alcazar battlements.
We return via the imposing monastery palace of El
Escorial and the thought provoking monument of the
Valley of the Fallen.

Day 5 |
Toledo This morning we witness
the glories of the erstwhile capital of Spain, as our
local guide shows us the majesty of the Cathedral
and the preternatural clarity of the work of Toledo's
El Greco at the Church of St. Tome.
This evening we board our overnight train to
Barcelona.

Day 6 |
Barcelona Arrival in cosmopolitan Barcelona. Our
local guide introduces us to the charm and elegance of
the Catalonian capital: The Olympic Stadium,
the Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter, the
rigorous logic of the Exeimple and Gaudi's
unfinished masterpiece , the Cathedral of Sagrada
Familia and Parc Guell.

Day 7 |
Barcelona
We visit the spectacular mountain outcrop of
Montserrat, hacked into shape by the golden axes of
angels - where we visit the basilica which houses
the famous Black Madonna.
Afternoon free for further exploration of this
captivating city.

Return to the USA. |
