Day 1  

Departure from the USA bound for Italy!

Day 2

Venice   We are met by our European Institute Tour Director and accompanied to our centrally located hotel, before we begin exploring this incredible city.

 

Day 3

Venice   After breakfast enjoy a cruise this morning to St Mark's Square for a guided walking tour of this beautiful city. View the Piazza San Marco, St. Mark's Basilica, the white and pink marbled Doges' Palace, and the famous Bridge of Sighs with our local guide.

 

This afternoon gives us time to explore Venice further. One of a cluster of islands in the Venetian lagoon, Venice is totally car-free with the canals serving as streets. We can use take a ride on a gondola or perhaps instead visit one of the famous glass blowing factories.

 

Day 4

Salzburg   Our drive today takes us through the Dolomite mountains and Alps, through the heavily forested region of Carinthia, to charming Salzburg.

 

Day 5

Salzburg   A guided tour of with your European Institute Tour Director shows you Mozart's Birthplace and St. Peter's Cathedral where the Von Trapp family sought refuge in their escape from Nazi Germany.

 

Tonight you are entertained with a private concert of Mozart's music in the private home of a local Count.

 

Day 6

Vienna   We drive through the Salzkammergut , pausing at the impressive monastery of Melk. Then, we follow the beautiful Wachau region of the Danube Valley passing the castle at Durnstein where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned.

 

We continue on to Vienna, once the seat of the greatest imperial dynasty in Europe, the Habsburg Empire.

 

Day 7

Vienna   Our sightseeing today reveals reflections of both imperial and contemporary Vienna. Our local guide introduces us to Emperor Franz Josef's Hofburg Palace, the Cathedral of St. Stephen and the State Opera.

 

Then an included visit to Schoenbrunn Palace with its magnificently preserved staterooms and exquisite gardens.

 

Day 8

Prague   Today we journey through rolling countryside to Prague, capital of the Czech Republic.

 

Day 9

Prague   During our panoramic tour we will see the majestic Charles Bridge, St. Vitus Cathedral and the famous alchemists' Golden Lane. Our tour finishes with a visit to Hradcany Castle.

 

Day 10 Return to the USA.
